It started as a doujin game, but was given official support and had a positive reception. I was under the impression that they did have Gravity's backing as it was advertised rather heavily on the Japanese and Korean official RO websites. (The latter of which I'm very excited for) Melty Blood Actress Again and Under Night In-Birth, specifically. Right now they're busy making 2D fighters. The last game they made in collaboration with Namekai wasn't very popuar (Gleam of Force) I doubt they could get away with making RBO2, because it means they'd have to get permission from Gravity as well as round up Harukaze Namekai (the artist responsible for doing the nice paper doll style animation) again. But sadly, French Bread are no longer a doujin company, but a fully fledged game design team.
